CallisonRTKL seeks a mid-level Architectural Designer with a passion for design to join its Healthcare group located in Los Angeles; CallisonRTKL is looking for a key individual who is interested in helping to lead and grow the design team. This individual will work in tandem with the Design Lead to develop design ideas, while also being given the latitude to generate and develop design on his/her own. This person will take on an active role in leading younger design staff in developing and producing work, will participate in design charettes, and will be charged with the generation of creative design solutions.


  • Works directly with Design Lead to develop and advance creative design ideas for mid-to-large scale projects
  • Independently works to develop and advance creative design ideas for small-to-mid scale projects
  • Leads younger design team staff to develop and produce design work
  • Takes on an active role in leading and growing the design team, under direction of the Design Lead
  • Participates in design charettes to generate concepts and creative design ideas for new/potential projects
  • Seeks responsible design solutions that balance all project targets, including budget, sustainability goals, constructability goals, schedule, etc.
  • Generates creative and responsible design solutions and develops those solutions through the use of both hand and computer-aided design tools, such as hand sketching, computer modeling, physical modeling, hand and computer rendering, etc.
  • Participates in client meetings and presentations in which design ideas are shared
  • Works collaboratively with Technical team to ensure adherence with design intent as projects move from design into construction
  • Coordinates the tasks of supporting team members
  • Achieves project success as measured by client and team satisfaction while achieving financial goals
  • Contributes to business development by establishing confidence with clients

  • Minimum Bachelor's degree in Architecture
  • 4+ years of architecture design experience; design experience in Healthcare is a preferred
  • Professional registration preferred
  • Ability to prioritize and concurrently service multiple projects
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Effective problem solving and interpersonal skills and ability to interface with all clients and employees
  • Interacts well with other disciplines and clients in a manner that builds productive relationships
  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Adobe CS Suite, V-Ray, Enscape and/or other rendering platforms
  • Knowledge of sustainable principles
  • LEED accreditation preferred
