Job Description

Controls Engineer
Homer, MI
Direct Hire Opening (not a contract or temp)

Hiring an experienced Industrial Controls Engineer with knowledge and experience of programming PLCs, designing industrial control systems and plans, and integrating control systems with new and existing robotic/automated production equipment.

Duties:
  • Provide control systems design, specification and programming
  • Work with technicians and other engineers to install, test, troubleshoot and document control systems
  • Develop control system architecture
  • These will include but are not limited to Allan Bradley RS Logix 5000 and Siemens S7 PLCs, HMIs, Operator interfaces
  • These will control Fanuc and Kuka Rovotics, positioning, temperature, conveyor and force controls
  • Will participate in Troubleshooting, Continuous Improvement, Project Meetings, Safety, Reporting and suggest equipment purchases
  • Prepare layout drawings and schematics
  • Develop project requirements
  • Source and purchase specific equipment

Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years or more of experience designing/operations for industrial manufacturing controls
  • BS Degree in Engineering/Similar OR combination of equivalent training/education/experience
  • Demonstratable knowledge of NEC, PLC, HMI programming, Vision Systems. Allen Bradley RSLogix 5000 and Siemens S7 is highly preferred
  • Integration experience with Robotic Systems, associated controls and interface
  • Basic AutoCAD (or similar) proficiency and ability to create basic CAD drawings of machine placements/layouts within the complex, electrical schematics and AS-IS drawings of electrical conduit and piping.
  • Must have good math skills
  • Must be proficient with basic measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, multimeters; ability to read Blue Prints; Good understanding of Geometric Tolerances
  • Proper Safety awareness such as Arc Flash and Lock Out Tag Out and use of PPE
