Property/Custodial Services Assistant Manager

We are currently looking for a Property Services Asst Manager to provide day-to-day leadership and oversight to our property services team at the legendary Queen Mary. Located in the Port of Long Beach, the Queen Mary features a rich maritime history, authentic Art Deco décor, and stunning views of the Pacific Ocean and Long Beach city skyline. At the time of her maiden voyage in May of 1936, she was considered the grandest ocean liner ever built. Today the Queen Mary is one of Los Angeles’ major attractions, drawing visitors from around the world. The Queen Mary boasts 346 staterooms spanning three decks including nine full suites which have hosted a variety of colorful characters from World War II leaders to British royalty and the stars of Hollywood’s golden era. The ship also features 80,000 square feet of event space in 17 remarkable Art Deco salons as well as a tri-level, 45,000-square-foot Exhibit Hall; signature restaurants including the award-winning Sir Winston’s and Chelsea Chowder House & Bar; and a selection of retail shops. History buffs enjoy the ship’s museum and Behind the Scenes tour, while guests of all ages love the Ghosts and Legends tour and special events such as Scottish Festival, Dark Harbor, and concerts that are hosted on or by the ship throughout the year.

Job Responsibilities
As Property Services assistant Manager, you’ll be responsible for providing supervision, direction and leadership to the property services team while ensuring the highest level of cleanliness for our guests. Whilst maintaining public and exhibit spaces
Key responsibilities include:

•Conducting walk-throughs and visually assessing the safe and efficient maintenance of all public spaces
•Maintaining cleanliness and an attractive appearance in public spaces
•Initiating, performing and overseeing maintenance projects
•Working closely with other departments to ensure coordination of activities
•Maintaining proper inventory of supplies, purchasing needed supplies while staying within budget
•Attending staff meetings, performing daily pre-shift meetings and other meetings as needed
•Approving and submitting payroll
•Analyzing daily labor report
•Supervising Property Service team members including hiring, training, conducting evaluations, development and disciplining
•Preparing and adjusting weekly work schedules for the Property Services team in accordance with staffing guidelines and labor forecasts
•Authorizing requests for personal time off, holidays for team members, schedule changes, overtime, purchase requests and expenditures
•Maintaining a safe working environment throughout the property by enforcing safety guidelines and building awareness about safe work practices
•Implementing and managing procedures and practices that ensure quality assurance for work performed by the property services team

Job Requirements
The ideal candidate for the Property Services Manager position will meet the following criteria:
•Must be computer literate, Excell, word and powerpoint
•Multiple language abilities preferred; fluency in English is required; fluency in Spanish is a plus
•Ability to work a varied schedule that may include evenings, nights and weekends to accommodate the business needs of the property
•Experience working in a union environment a plus
•Ability to create an enjoyable work environment including mentoring, multi-tasking, strong motivational skills
•Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy
•Ability to move throughout the hotel (standing, walking, kneeling, climbing stairs, and bending) for extended periods of time
