Overall Job Objective

The Job

The Real Estate Services Department - Project Management Division, is recruiting for Capital Improvement Project Managers II, who are responsible for the oversight of design and construction of capital projects, including renovations, expansions, new facilities, and infrastructure, as well as landscape projects. Capital Improvement Project Managers II work under general direction and have full responsibility for small, medium and large capital improvement projects. Capital Improvement Project Managers II may assist higher-level Project Managers in the coordination of larger and more complex projects.

1) Travel throughout the County is required. A valid California Class C driver license must be maintiained. Employees in this class may be required to use personal vehicles and show proof of automobile liability insurance. Mileage reimbursement is available. 2) Applicants must successfully pass a background check prior to appointment.

Minimum Requirements

EDUCATION: Bachelor's Degree in Project Management, Construction Management, Inspection Technology, or a closely related field.


EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of professional-level project management experience over multiple capital improvement and building projects, with responsibility from conception to completion. Responsibilities should include developing and updating project schedules, tracking construction budgets, managing Requests for Information, and coordination of design and construction submittals. Typical experience includes medium-sized commercial, industrial, institutional, and public projects.

Two (2) additional years of experience may substitute for the Bachelor's Degree requirement, with possession of an Associate's Degree as noted above. 

Four (4) additional years of commercial, industrial, institutional, and public projects experience may substitute for the educational requirements.

Desired Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have strong construction project management experience.
