I.          TITLE:          Program Supervisor

II.        PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in social services or other related field
  • 4 years’ experience in well-being services, growth and development activities, civic engagement, and /or community building with families and communities
  • 3-5 years minimum supervision experience in managing family strengthening programs or non-profit management
  • 3 years direct supervision experience
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively network with other community service providers and community members
  • Strong command of speaking, reading, and writing in English required
  • Community organizing experience a plus

III.       REPORTS TO:  Director of Community Services or other as assigned

IV.       POSITION DESCRIPTION:

            Responsible for overseeing the First 5 Los Angeles Best Start program in the

            Antelope Valley.

Program Supervisor works with the Director of Strategies in assuring that all programs and scope of work are effective and consistent with our mission and principles.  The Program Supervisor will exemplify a leadership-team approach fostering a helpful and supportive environment promoting learning to be shared across regions and departments.  The Program Supervisor will provide overall oversight; including all Regional Support Network functions, participate in program planning, implementation and evaluation, contract compliance, budget management, staffing, visibility, supervision, resource acquisition, interacting with First 5 LA, and community networking. Demonstrated multi-cultural skills are required.

V.        DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Community Networking
  • Establish agency presence and leadership in Antelope Valley
  • Develop and maintain effective community and funder relations
  • Participate in community planning with local Networks
  • Act as Children's Bureau representative in Antelope Valley
  1. GENERAL
  • Support existing agency policies, principles, and mission.  Recommend program and policy changes deemed in the best interest of the agency and its purposes
  • Maintain confidentiality in matters of agency operations, staff, and clients
  • Exercise good judgment in performance of duties and responsibilities
  • Maintains positive communications with all agency staff, clients and visitors.
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, streamline work processes, and work cooperatively and jointly to provide quality seamless customer service
  • Regular attendance at meetings as required
  • Requires evening hours and occasional weekend hours
  • Requires driving in the Antelope Valley and other areas in Los Angeles County
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Other related duties as assigned.
