Having the ability to observe both conventional and unconventional enemies with an Unmanned Aerial Vehicle is absolutely necessary to plan for our national defense. It?s up to the Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer to keep the aircraft ready to fly, ensure its ability to collect and transmit information, and to do so as safely as possible. As an integral member of this team, the UASR is primarily responsible for supervising, inspecting and performing maintenance functions, and troubleshoots equipment wiring harnesses, electrical components, and radio frequency paths within UAS aviation field maintenance units. Some of your duties as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer may include:

* Repair the aircraft electrical, avionics, propulsion, and fuel systems
* Remove and replace optical payload and weapons systems
* Repair and maintain the Ground Control Station electrical systems and the Ground Data Terminal electrical and radio frequency systems.
* Repair and maintain takeoff and landing systems.

Job training for an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer requires nine weeks of basic training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, 19 weeks of Advanced Individual Training, and on-the-job instruction, including practice in repairing electrical systems. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn are:

* Electrical theory
* Troubleshooting procedures
* Soldering techniques
* Electrical system maintenance

An advanced level Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer provides guidance, supervises, and trains other Soldiers within the same discipline. As an advanced level Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer, you may be involved in:

* Scheduling maintenance on test, measurement, and diagnostic equipment
* Altering or modifying material according to DA approved modification work orders
* Determining man-hours, personnel, parts and facility requirements to repair unmanned aircraft
* Serving as a crew chief for launch and recovery operations

The skills you learn as an Unmanned Aircraft Systems Repairer will help prepare you for a future with various intelligence agencies, commercial airlines, aircraft maintenance firms, aircraft manufacturers or other organizations that might have fleets of airplanes or helicopters.
