The Automobile Club of Southern California is seeking career-minded individuals for our Advanced Telematics Technical Lead opportunity in Emergency Road Services (“ERS”) housed in our Costa Mesa Administrative Office. This position plays a strong role in continuous member service improvement of the Automobile Club of Southern California by providing the highest level of technical leadership, mentorship and direction in the process of defining and delivering telematics solutions. This position involves a high level of independent judgment and creativity. The Advanced Telematics Technical Lead: =Provides direction throughout all phases of the Systems Development Life Cycle ("SDLC"), removes barriers, and facilitates/ensures the delivery of quality in the solution. =Assumes primary responsibility for developing an end-to-end technical solution that meets or exceeds the defined business needs. =Possesses a solid understanding of existing and emerging technologies =Possesses ability to apply these technologies to create solutions which include in-vehicle telematics modules, handheld devices, wireless network interfaces and a back office data/call center. Key Duties and Responsibilities: =Build consensus within the organization on resolutions to technical issues and solutions =Communicate technical solutions through design walk-through, architectural drawings, system design reviews, etc. =Communicate technical issues to others in the organization and business partners =Coordinate delivery of solutions =Define technical solutions to meet business requirements =Ensure complete integration of technical solutions across all areas =Ensure that features/technology are appropriately approved, scoped, specified, developed, tested and integrated across the organization =Ensure the quality of end-to-end solution delivery through quality reviews and end-to-end test =Identify technical risks and provides mitigation approaches =Implement new wireless capabilities, services, features and technologies through specification development and vendor management =Initiate, develop and enforce standards and procedures to ensure quality and success of technical solutions. =Oversee and manage technical vendors to ensure their ability to deliver and soundness and quality of all solutions =Participate in defining, analyzing and writing of business and system requirements =Plan, develop and execute test procedures for new products/features/technology =Research and demonstrate feasibility of technical solutions =Stay abreast of new technology and competitive products Skills / Requirements
Successful candidates have:
REQUIRED: =8+ years experience in system development, system integration, and/or system testing =Demonstrated experience in telematics =Demonstrated experience working directly with telematics suppliers or service provider =Demonstrated experience in wireless technologies (CDMA or GSM) =Demonstrated hands-on experience in detailed requirements gathering =Demonstrated working knowledge of SDLC methodologies =Demonstrated experience managing technical vendors =Demonstrated experience in a client facing role =Excellent analytical, organizational, verbal and written communication skills =Demonstrated knowledge in one or more of the following: wireless voice and data communications protocol development, GPS, Bluetooth, navigation, IT architectures, network topology and embedded systems development =Demonstrated experience with XML, web services and portal development =Demonstrated experience in wireless gateway development or product installation/configuration/administration =Ability to communicate technical solutions to both technical and non technical personnel =Ability to balance design goals with future flexibility, extensibility, costs and program timing =Ability to manage and prioritizes multiple projects PREFERRED: =Master’s Degree in related field =8 years related experience =Hands-on design engineering experience in firmware development and testing a plus =Experience in design and development of automotive electronics =Experience developing or validating other wireless products such as cell phones, or M2M devices =Experience designing voice application HMI =Experience developing voice applications =Experience developing VXML (Grammars) =Voice Application Server product installation/configuration/administration experience =Text-to-Speech and Recognizer (ASR) product installation/configuration/administration experience This job posting is no longer available on Jobing.com.
