Job Title: Senior Energy Portfolio Analyst

Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will support the Portfolio Development Group in the Energy Planning Department by leading the analyses and optimization of SCE's power generation portfolio. Typical responsibilities include: participating in the planning process that guides the company’s long-term participation in gas and electric markets; taking a lead role in simulating dispatch of SCE's energy supply portfolio using fundamental dispatch models, support contract/resource valuation; verifying input and output data; improving the fundamental modeling of SCE's supply portfolio; preparing and presenting reports to multiple groups including Contracts; maintaining large databases; carrying out multiple price forecasting functions; performing after-the-fact analysis on our procurement and planning activities, market analyses and regulatory filings; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned.


Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Must have two or more years of experience with fundamental modeling of energy portfolio, taking a set of plant/contract operational parameters and creating dispatch simulations using fundamental tools, spreadsheet programs, programming languages, stochastic analysis and optimization methods. Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics or related technical degree.

Core Competencies:
- Typically possesses eight or more years of experience as a quantitative analyst.
- Demonstrated experience working in a highly technical group involved in asset valuation in the power, capacity and natural gas markets.
- Demonstrated experience forecasting, planning, and analyzing market trends.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and/or utilizing complex resource optimization and dispatch models.
- Demonstrated experience preparing findings and presenting complex technical information.
- Demonstrated experience developing Excel Macros and maintaining and working with large databases.
- Demonstrated ability to interface effectively and collaborate with peers, clients, management, and other organizations.
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, adjust to changing priorities, and paying attention to details.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business fand services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Comments:
Additional testing may be required as part of the selection process for this position. This position has been identified as a NERC/CIP impacted position - Prior to being hired, the successful candidate must pass a Personnel Risk Assessment (PRA) or Background Investigation. Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.

Preferences:
Graduate Degree in Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, or Mathematics or related technical degree. Understanding of the energy markets.
