Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will represent the Company as an authorized Agent and primary contact in transactions involving the acquisition of materials, equipment and services from external sources. Responsible for the development, negotiation and post-award administration of Contracts, Purchase Orders, Change Orders that amend Purchase Orders and Requests for Proposals in compliance with legal, technical and Corporate requirements. These transactions will often involve high dollar, high visibility and highly complex requirements. Responsible for interpreting Purchase Order provisions, resolving disputes, and resolving invoicing and payment problems. Provides advice to management on the contractual implications resulting from actions taken by external suppliers or internal clients. Responsible and accountable for achieving aggressive targets on cost, quality and service. Responsible for providing leadership and focus on teams to achieve continuous improvement and cost reduction. Responsible for interpreting contract/T&C provisions and resolving unusual or politically sensitive disputes. Ensures achievement of the best value to the Company by coordinating and directing the competitive bid process and making recommendations for Purchase Order awards. Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with outside suppliers, contractors, and consultants, as well as internal clients and client organizations. Provides advice, recommendations, and solutions to internal clients concerning the most cost-effective and/or appropriate method of acquiring their material, equipment and/or service requirements. Responsible for providing leadership, conducting negotiations, facilitation, collaboration, total cost reduction, cost savings, and meeting Supplier Diversity goals. May provide functional direction to other agents. Performs other duties and tasks as required.


Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Must possess a minimum of four years experience in purchasing.

Core Competencies:
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Finance, Supply Chain or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Demonstrated experience applying principles of financial analysis, activity based- costing, and supply chain methodology.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating contracts and contract terms.
- Demonstrated experience in professional field to include project and contract management, as well as participation on cross-functional teams to address supply chain issues and solve problems.
- Demonstrated experience establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with internal clients and external suppliers.
Business partners include all levels of personnel from material or service end-user to corporate officers.
- Demonstrated experience negotiating business partner support requirements.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, including experience in preparing and giving oral presentations.
- Demonstrated experience maintaining and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Demonstrated experience using ERP software, such as SAP, in a purchasing environment
- Proficiency PC software applications such as: MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Comments:
Additional testing may be required as part of the selection process for this position. Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, however, the successful candidate may also be asked to relocate to, or work for an extended amount of time at Brea.

Preferences:
CPM Certification. Thorough knowledge of Supply Chain process requirements and supporting activities. Strong knowledge of purchasing practices and policies. Strong knowledge of procurement contracts and standard terms and conditions. Demonstrated
experience in the utility industry. Masters degree in Business Administration.
