As an integral member of the Mechanical Maintenance team, the Track Vehicle Repairer is primarily responsible for performing maintenance on tracked vehicles and supervising activities that include fuel and electrical system repair and maintenance. Some of your duties as a Track Vehicle Repairer may include: * Repair diesel power plants/packs, compression ignition engine fuel systems, compression ignition air induction systems * Repair vehicle air cooling systems, vehicle liquid cooling systems, track hull electrical systems, automatic transmission assemblies * Repair track vehicle cross drive transmission assemblies, transfer assemblies, hydraulic brake systems, mechanical/hydraulic steering systems, track vehicle hydraulic assemblies, fire extinguisher/suppression systems * Repair track vehicle using battlefield damage assessment and repair Skills / Requirements
Job training for a Track Vehicle Repairer requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and 12 weeks of Advanced Individual Training. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn are: * Engine repair and tune-up or replacement * Troubleshoot mechanical and electrical problems * Body repair and body panel replacement Helpful attributes include: * An interest in auto mechanics and the industrial arts * A preference for physical work * An interest in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical problems * An interest in automotive engines and how they work Advanced level Track Vehicle Repairers provide guidance, supervises and trains other Soldiers within the same discipline. As an advanced level Track Vehicle Repairers, you may be involved in: * Perform and supervise fuel and electrical systems repairer duties * Supervise and repair of fuel systems, fuel system components, electrical systems, electrical system components, diesel engines, cooling systems, * - transmissions, brake systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, auxiliary drives, and personnel heaters * Inspect and troubleshoot tracked vehicle automotive systems and classify equipment The skills you learn as a Track Vehicle Repairer will help prepare you for a future with auto and construction equipment dealers and farm equipment companies.
