Criminal Investigations Special Agents are primarily responsible for supervising or conducting investigations of incidents and offenses or allegations of criminality that affect Army or Defense personnel, property, facilities or activities. Some of your duties as a Criminal Investigations Special Agent may include: * Investigate criminal activities and activities related to espionage, treason, and terrorism * Interview witnesses and questioning suspects * Use polygraph machines (lie detectors) * Conduct sensitive/serious investigations * Collect, analyze, and disseminate Criminal Intelligence * Conduct Protective Service Operations * Provide forensic laboratory support * Maintain Army criminal records * Investigate serious crime Skills / Requirements
Job training for a Criminal Investigations Special Agent consists of a 15-week resident course challenging the student both mentally and physically, and is designed to train enlisted personnel for criminal investigation duty in field units of the US Army Criminal Investigation Command. Some of the skills you'll learn are: * Civil and military laws * Special investigative techniques and photography * Drug investigations * Investigative reports * Economic crimes * Investigation procedures and techniques * Investigations of crimes against persons and property * Physical evidence * Crime scene processing * Testimonial evidence Helpful attributes include: * An interest in law enforcement and crime prevention * A willingness to perform potentially dangerous work * An ability to remain calm under pressure * Being physically fit Advanced level Criminal Investigations Special Agents supervise and train other Soldiers within the same discipline. The skills you learn as a Criminal Investigations Special Agent will help prepare you for a future with federal, state and local, intelligence and law enforcement agencies as well as private security companies.
