The ammunition stock control and accounting specialist operates the Standard Ammunition and Accounting System-Modernized (SAAS-MOD) computer hardware and software and utilizes manual records to perform stock control and accounting procedures for ammunition, explosives, and associated explosive components. Some of your duties as a Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist may include: * Perform ammunition supply stock control and accounting duties using both automated and manual procedures * Maintain hardware and software systems and manual records required to successfully perform stock control and accounting procedures for ammunition and explosives Skills / Requirements
Job training for an Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist requires nine weeks of Basic Training, where you'll learn basic Soldiering skills, and seven weeks and two days of Advanced Individual Training and on-the-job instruction. Part of this time is spent in the classroom and part in the field. Some of the skills you'll learn are: * Perform functions using the Standard Army Ammunition System-Modernized (SAAS-MOD) to include the input of information into SAAS-MOD * Access of data browser; the automated issue, receipt, re-warehousing, shipment, turn-in and maintenance transfer of ammunition * Create Radio Frequency Identification System (RFID) tags, create applicable reports and input data at the Ammunition Supply Point (ASP), Division Ammunition Office (DAO), and the Materiel Management Center (MMC) * Upload/download Automated Data Processing Equipment, perform individual Warrior Tasks and Collective Warrior Battle Drills Helpful attributes include: * An ability to communicate effectively * An interest in algebra, chemistry, physics, geometry and trigonometry * An ability to plan and organize * An ability to work calmly under stress Advanced level Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist provides guidance, supervises and trains other Soldiers within the same discipline. As an advanced level Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist, you may be involved in: * Perform duties in preceding skill level * Responsible for maintaining performance oversight of junior Soldiers The skills you'll learn as an Ammunition Stock Control and Accounting Specialist will help prepare you for a civilian career with government agencies and private industries performing ordnance research and development. * Ammunition Specialist (89B) Learn more about the relationship between military training and civilian certification requirements.
