Job Title: Category Manager
Job Ref#: NB60461800EA Typical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will develop long-range sourcing and spend management plans for power production, transmission, and distribution materials. Typical responsibilities include: Leading and managing procurement agents, analysts and additional supporting staff in support of category management strategies; defining and maintaining formal category business plans and strategies; facilitating and coordinating supplier relationships; reviewing new contracts with suppliers and assure internal and external contract compliance; communicating to internal business partners regarding spend strategies, new agreements, appropriate usage, and performance measurement; identifying and driving category performance improvements with suppliers; tracking supplier performance and internal compliance relative to targets; managing supplier scorecards; communicating evaluation criteria; facilitating regular supplier discussions; resolving emergent supplier issues within the supply chain; utilizing supply market analysis and monitor supplier market; leveraging knowledge of category market to determine when to launch strategic sourcing events; assisting in validation of baseline spend analysis; leveraging senior management as required for supplier interactions; assisting in the evaluation and selection of new sources and supplier capabilities; directing the development and negotiation of complex agreements with suppliers encompassing key program specifications and functional objectives; and performing other duties as required. Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Must possess seven or more years experience in supply chain management; including three or more years experience in category/commodity management. Core Competencies: - Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Business, Supply Chain, Finance or related technical discipline; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. - Typically possesses four or more years of experience supervising, and achieving results through others by prioritizing activities, delegating and monitoring the progress of assignments, and holding employees accountable for results. - Demonstrated knowledge of procurement and supply chain management principles. - Demonstrated experience driving, planning, developing and executing category commodity management strategies. - Demonstrated experience managing multiple projects with competing deadlines. - Demonstrated knowledge of Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) models and category value/performance analysis. - Demonstrated experience resolving complex supply chain issues. - Demonstrated experience working with suppliers. - Demonstrated experience with assessing category spends and developing related strategies. - Demonstrated knowledge of market conditions and marketplace intelligence. - Demonstrated experience developing, negotiating and administration of contracts in a supply chain environment. - Demonstrated experience leading and managing cross-functional teams. - Demonstrated experience using ERP software in a supply chain environment - Proficiency with PC software applications such as MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc. - Demonstrated experience with project management functions including planning, tracking, monitoring, budgeting, and allocating resources. - Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. - Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation. - Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning. Comments: Additional testing may be required as part of the selection process for this position. This posting will result in two openings. The primary work location for this position is Rosemead, however, the successful candidate may also be asked to relocate to, or work for an extended amount of time in Long Beach. Candidates for this position must be legally authorized to work directly as employees for any employer in the United States without visa sponsorship. Preferences: - MBA in business, finance, engineering, supply chain management and/ or related field. - CPM certification. - Demonstrated experience sourcing MRO. - Demonstrated experience in the utility industry. - Demonstrated experience sourcing capital equipment.
