Planned Parenthood Los Angeles is seeking a well organized individual with excellent verbal, written, presentation, and customer service skills to join the Community Education Department as our Program Coordinator, Sexuality Education Initiative.
Essential Functions:
The Program Coordinator will support the Sexuality Education Initiative (SEI) by organizing and facilitating activities of this demonstration project, such as coordinating program scheduling with schools and staff from other programs, facilitating education and training sessions for each component and maintaining accurate records and reports of planning and collaborative meetings and program activities.This position also includes, but is not limited to:
- Develop and maintain the knowledge and skills necessary to provide sex education classes and trainings for the Sexuality Education Initiative
- Coordinate monthly SEI planning meetings both within the Community Education Department, as well as with the Development and External Affairs Departments
- Work in close collaboration with the SEI Program Manager, other Community Education staff, and the research team (Public Health Institute and the University of Southern California) to develop, pilot and evaluate the multi-component SEI program
- Coordinate scheduling of the demonstration project with staff, teachers and schools
- Gather and distribute materials for other staff who will be facilitating portions of the program
- Maintain PPLA SEI progress updates on Central Desktop program and in education database
- Coordinate record-keeping of project data and evaluations as requested by Program Manager
- Represent PPLA in the community by maintaining relationships with schools, community-based organizations and other collaborators in relation to this project
- Coordinate and assist in all staff training sessions
- Assist researchers in data collection management
- Assist in tracking SEI expenses
- Provide administrative and technical support to SEI
Requirements:- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Knowledge about pregnancy prevention and sex education
- Familiarity with LA County Schools, including LAUSD strongly desired
- Able to work across multiple departments and programs within Planned Parenthood
- Must be flexible and able to work with diverse groups, including youth, parents and professionals
- Ability and willingness to travel to and visit schools, agencies and community meetings
- Ability to facilitate sexuality education in schools with students and parents
- Ability and interest in working with adolescents on issues addressing sexuality education
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Accuracy and attention to detail essential
- Professional appearance and attitude
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some weekends and evenings as required
- Requires valid driver’s license and a reliable means of transportation
Education and Experience:
- College degree preferred with a health education or social services background
- Experience in training/education/outreach with community services or health agency
