Typical Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will work as a Power Systems Planner within the Short Term Planning group to develop plans to optimize supply resources to best meet customers' needs. Typical responsibilities will include: maintaining simulation/optimization models that assist with developing the daily resource mix; maintaining and updating data supporting models; preparing daily resource plans; developing specific bids and strategies to optimize Southern California Edison's (SCE) resource portfolio; gathering market intelligence, preparing daily market reports, and performing after-the-fact analyses; supporting group and department efforts in California Independent System Operator (CAISO) market design activities, such as the Multi-Stage Generation project; solving unanticipated problems and issues that will need to be addressed in an uncertain and potentially contentious regulatory environment; solving complex problems and performing analyses of business situations new to SCE and crucial to the success of
SCE's core business; and performing other duties and responsibilities as requested.


Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Must have a Bachelor Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, Statistics, or related field.

Core Competencies:
- Typically possesses two or more years experience with spreadsheet programs, programming languages, engineering, economic and/or simulation models.
- Demonstrated experience researching information, analyzing it, preparing reports and making recommendations.
- Demonstrated experience creating complex reports, and graphs, converting information from one format to another, and generating reports from business applications/databases.
- Demonstrated experience developing and delivering technical presentations to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Demonstrated experience completing multiple projects concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities.
- Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with clients, peers, management, and other departments.
- Demonstrated proficiency with PC application, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers.
- Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation.
- Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.

Preferences
Graduate Degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Finance, and/or Statistics. Experience building and analyzing complex optimization and numerical models. Experience with operational planning of power generation including hydro, thermal and various types of contracted resources in deregulated wholesale power markets, with proficiency in the use of Unit Commitment and Economic Dispatch models. Experience in the Western energy markets, including an understanding of the California Independent
System Operator (CAISO) market design.
