Profile: Small Business Administration Women's Center

Our MissionThe Mission of the CHARO-SBA Women’s Center is to be an economic catalyst, providing quality services and innovative programs for the economic advancement of the underserved women business owners in all of Los Angeles. All services are provided in a bilingual/bicultural environment.

The CHARO SBA Women's Business Center has been in operation since September 2003. CHARO SBAWC is a resource community designed to help women entrepreneurs as they grow their business. CHARO SBAWC develops, consults, and mentors women entrepreneurs at all stages of their business.

Workshops/Seminars

Workshops and Seminars are provided to start-up and existing business owners at low/no-cost. Topics include:

• Financial management assistance covering general accounting management such as financial planning, budgeting and cash flow analysis management, bookkeeping, and accounts payable, accounts receivable, and inventory control
• Access to markets and marketing assistance to develop marketing plans, and strategies for specific products including product definition, pricing, positioning, and vendor procurement
• Access to capital
• Human resources management to review recruitment, hiring and training of staff needs

Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP)

CHARO's California Institute of Business Management conducts the successful Entrepreneurial Training Program (ETP), designed to assist entrepreneurs to build and grow their business.

Business Planning Basics is an intensive 11-week course on entrepreneurship offered to business owners at convenient hours for people with full schedules. The program is taught by professionals who have business education and real-world experience. Classes are available in English and Spanish.
By the end of the 11-week course you will complete:

• Business Plan
• Marketing Plan
• Financial Plan
• Certificate of Completion

COMMERCIAL AND CONSUMER LOAN SERVICES CHARO is a Small Business Administration (SBA) certified intermediary, successfully packaging bank loans for Southern California business owners since 1990. CHARO has a proven track record of assisting entrepreneurs to access capital from financial institutions, totaling over $28,000,000 in small business loans funded. Business Incubator

The CHARO Business Incubator is a 36,000 sq. ft. shared services facility that promotes business enterprise development within our community by helping young businesses survive and grow during the startup period. The Business Incubator will house approximately 40 businesses.
