Educational Approaches

• Learn about the cultures of the students
• Adjust your teaching style to match the learning styles of students
• Question whether the student’s actions truly constitute misbehavior
• Keep expectations high
• Obtain and supply support services for recent immigrant students
• Develop personal relationships with the recently arrived students
• Accept culturally-based tendencies while promoting the ability to be a “cultural chameleon”
• Learn some basic words and ways
