Blog Post: Goodwill Serving The People of Southern Los Angeles County offers "Careers in Health Care"

Goodwill's Allied Health Care, Certified Nurse Assistant Training Program in Partnership with the Long Beach Regional Occupational Program is sponsored by United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Long Beach Community Foundation, Long Beach Chamber of Commerce, St. Mary's Medical Center Foundation and the Goodwill Board of Trustees. This program is open to all residents of Southern Los Angeles County ages 18 an older. An entry eligibility criterion does apply for the C.N.A. training program: no felonies; must have an 8th grade reading and math level & be a resident of Southern Los Angeles County. The program provides classroom and clinical training and prepares students to qualify to take the State of California Certified Nursing Assistant exam. Accredited units may be earned toward the LVN and RN programs at Long Beach City College and California State University Long Beach. The Goodwill Allied Health Care, Certified Nurse Assistant Training program is broken down into two sections, Medical Core & Nursing Assistant. The Medical Core class is from 7:50am to 11:35am Tuesday's & Thursday for the first nine weeks. The Nursing Assistant class is Monday through Friday from 7:00am to 12:00pm (noon) for the second nine weeks. The total program is eighteen weeks in length. Financial assistance is available. All supportive services are provided including but not limited to: registration fees, testing fees, livescan fingerprinting fees, scrubs (uniforms), shoes, stethoscopes, CPR & First Aid fees, transportation assistance and much more. Job placement assistance is available upon completion. This program opens the door to careers in the healthcare industry. Goodwill Serving The People of Southern Los Angeles County is a community resource providing job training and employment placement services to individuals with barriers to employment. Registration will begin August 4th for the next training cycle which will begin September 3rd, 2008.
