Blog Post: Jobing.com Career Expo March 5th - Dress To Impress!
posted Wednesday, February 27, 2008 9:28 AM
The Orange County Jobing.com Career Expo is just a week away, on Wednesday, March 5th at the Anaheim Convention Center, and this is the time for you to start planning your attendance!
Something I can't emphasize enough is being dressed professionally for the event. This is your chance to make a first impression on a future employer, and nothing says you are prepared like being dressed to impress. This can be as simple as a nice pair of dress pants and a dress shirt (no wrinkles!), all the way to a professional suit. You might think if you're looking for a position that doesn't normally require professional dress, then why dress up for the job fair, but the employers are looking for people who stand out and make the effort to look their best. You can check out our website to see some examples of what to wear, both for the job fair and for those interviews you'll be setting! Remember, erring to the side of caution and dressing up more will only work to your advantage! Another way to be prepared is begin looking now at the companies that are attending. If there are some that you know you want to meet with, start doing your research and getting prepared. Learn about the company, so that you are able to speak about why you want to work for them and what you think makes them a great company. You will really impress employers by having done this extra work! Other tips I can share are arriving early (we open at Noon) so that you have time to get your resume reviewed. This service runs from Noon to 4 PM, and can provide you valuable insight into sprucing up your resume to make it the best. If you are able to bring an electronic copy of it (cd-rom or jump/usb drive), we will also have computers on hand, courtesy of DeVry University, where you can open your resume, make the suggested changes, and print out new copies to hand out. We also have four fantastic workshops, beginning at 12:30 PM, on the topics of Branding, Building a Great Resume, Job Search Success, and Exciting Careers in Law Enforcement. Check out the descriptions on our website and plan your time to visit these informational sessions. Just as a reminder, we would like to help you be prepared! The Anaheim Convention Center charges $10.00 for parking. This is a fee of the facility, and not of Jobing.com. The facility accepts cash. So start your engines, we've got lots of great local employers looking to hire great people like you. Use the tips above, and more found on our website, to prepare yourself and stand out from the crowd. Are you ready for your next great career?? Then come on down to the Anaheim Convention Center, 800 West Katella Avenue in Anheim, on Wednesday, March 5th from 12 Noon to 5 PM - and get that job!!
