Community Networking Networking is a vital part of your job search. One of the best ways for businesses to market their products and services is through networking. When you are searching for a new job, you are trying to market yourself, so why not use some of the same networking techniques that businesses use. Many surveys show that most people find jobs through networking. Someone that you know or meet knows about a job that is right for you. Or, someone that you know or meet knows someone, who knows someone, who knows about a job for you. Here are a few networking tips. Community Networking · Visit your local Chamber of Commerce to ask about businesses that are hiring, new business openings, and upcoming business meetings. · Your local library not only has books to assist in your job search, they usually have information on upcoming community events such as parades, picnics, dances, sports activities, workshops, meetings, and other networking opportunities. · The gym, clubs, schools, sports teams, churches, and other organizations that you already belong to are great opportunities for networking. Don’t be embarrassed to let people know that you are looking for a job. · Daily activities including shopping, talking to the letter carrier, and talking to neighbors are all great opportunities to let people know that you are looking for a job.
