Blog Post: Commit to a Better New Year
posted Wednesday, December 24, 2008 12:20 PM
Commit to a Better New Year Welcome to Christmas 2008. I believe that the best thing about this Christmas for most Americans is that it signals in a new year! We made history this year, of that we can be sure, and the trend is just as sure to continue in brand new 2009. I choose to start this New Year with hope for a brighter day for all of those who choose to participate, to take action, to see to it that their lives and the lives of their loved ones and their neighbors are better today and tomorrow than they were yesterday. The holiday time is often difficult for many of us even in the best of times. This year with so many with out incomes or security I would like to remind anyone interested that we do have the ability to forge our destinies just as much today than at any other time. During the holiday season be grateful; be grateful for anything that you can imagine. We know that when a person is experiencing gratitude they are unable to feel any other emotion. If you are down, think of something to be grateful for. When you find yourself with nothing to do, go volunteer your services to someone that needs a helping hand. It is not easy to feel badly about your own sorrows when assisting someone else. Make a promise; commit yourself that in this New Year that you are going to be active in pursuing appropriate employment. That does not mean perusing job postings. It does mean taking the time to write your own job description bringing complete clarity to your own mind. Researching until you find the entity, organization and/ or person that need what you offer. With that clarity of mind communicate your value. The universe has no less opportunity today than it did 5 years ago or 5 years in the future. We have everything we need or will ever require. Be grateful, have hope, commit, take action and serve. You just might find that you never lack anything in your life again.
