Blog Post: Bilingual Workplace: The Evolution
posted Tuesday, May 13, 2008 10:10 AM
In today’s competitive business environment, companies that are hiring a bilingual capable workforce are arming themselves with a critical success tool needed in an increasingly global marketplace. With Spanish behind English as the most important language to know in America, companies are looking to hire qualified bilingual Hispanics. In addition, the Western Hemisphere is estimated to have a combined total population of over 500 million and guess what language they speak– Spanish. As the business environment becomes more global in nature, these bilingual capable employees are critical to have on the team to positively influence the bottom line. According to the latest U.S. Census report, U.S. Hispanics are officially the largest minority in the most powerful economy that the world has ever seen. Coupled with such a large international market that speaks Spanish, companies are reacting to the reality of demographics and purchasing power by recruiting from the U.S. Hispanic talent pool. As bilingual Hispanics assume visible roles within companies, they are changing the companies from within. These employees are influencing the perception of what skills are truly needed in attracting more consumer dollars to the bottom line. Still, organizations are in different stages of development regarding the Hispanic American workforce and its bilingual capable talent. However, there are forward-thinking companies that are fully matured in their willingness to embrace the inherent value of having a bilingual workforce thus positioning themselves to be better able to cope with a consumer base that is global, growing in population, and increasingly in purchasing power If you are looking for a Hispanic market business development specialist, speaker, or trainer, contact Rickey Johnson by email at rickey@hacusa.info or call 480-232-8572
