Michael is responsible for originating and evaluating investment opportunities in the Internet, media and business services sectors. Current and prior directorships include Spark Networks, IGN Entertainment, BuscaPé, Jobing and Action Media Holdings. Prior to joining Great Hill, Michael served as a co-founder and Executive Vice President of Creative Planet, Inc., a venture-backed information and technology company targeting the entertainment industry. Prior to forming Creative Planet, he served as Executive Vice President, Business Development for WMC Finance, a diversified consumer finance company, majority owned by Apollo Advisors, L.P. (purchased by GE Consumer Services). Before joining WMC, Michael served as an Associate at Apollo, a $10 billion private investment partnership, where he worked with companies in a wide range of industries including media and communications, financial services and healthcare. His investment experience included Apollo's acquisition of WMC Finance from Weyerhaeuser Co.; and Communications Corporation of America, a regional television broadcasting group. He began his investing career as an analyst with Goldman Sachs' Whitehall funds, focusing on real estate and restructurings including the recapitalization and subsequent leveraged buy-out of Rockefeller Center Properties (NYSE:RCPI). Michael received his Bachelor of Arts with honors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public & International Affairs at Princeton University. |
