Job Title: Environmental Specialist
Job Ref#: NB60488867EA Typical Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for the development and implementation of the company's Hazardous Waste Management Program. He or she will transform hazardous waste regulatory requirements into policies, procedures and guidance documents that are executed by the department personnel to meet the corporate compliance goal. Typical responsibilities will include: periodically reviewing and processing vendor invoices; processing change orders and negotiate work scope under the strategic contracts; developing company procedures and processes for managing hazardous wastes; leading cross-functional teams to understand operational impacts; executing the corporate governance role by performing environmental field assessments and consultations at Southern California Edison's (SCE) facilities to determine department compliance with regulatory and SCE requirements related to the management of hazardous waste; interfacing and collaborating with the Department of Toxic Substances and Certified Unified Program Agencies; developing hazardous waste management training curriculum and job aids based on regulatory requirements; participating in the implementation of hazardous waste training and providing consultation to department management related to the implementation of hazardous waste procedures and processes; performing detailed analysis related to hazardous waste activity, trends and process improvement related to SCE's Environmental Sustainability Initiative and Corporate Environment, Health, and Safety (CEH&S) strategic planning; presenting findings and recommendations to Operations Support and CEH&S management; participating in some after-hours and on call duty; and performing other duties and responsibilities as assigned. Skills / Requirements
Basic Qualifications:
Must have two or more years experience transforming hazardous waste regulatory requirements into policies, procedures and guidance documents in a compliance related environment. Core Competencies: - Bachelor Degree in environmental science or related discipline. - Typically possesses four or more years experience in the field performing analysis, consulting, and providing recommendations related to the management of hazardous waste. - Demonstrated experience participating and/or leading cross-functional teams. - Demonstrated experience developing training programs based on regulatory requirements. - Demonstrated experience working with laws and regulations related to the Resource Conservation Recovery Act, Toxic Substances Control Act, and the California Health and Safety Code and California Code of Regulations Title 22. - Demonstrated experience researching data/information, gathering, documenting, conducting analysis, drawing conclusions, producing written reports and presenting findings and recommendations. - Demonstrated experience consulting with clients, including identifying client needs, developing action plans, identifying deliverables, and presenting results. - Demonstrated experience interfacing and collaborating with clients, peers, regulatory agencies, other departments and management to develop solutions. - Demonstrated experience completing multiple projects/assignments concurrently while adjusting to changing priorities. - Demonstrated proficiency with PC applications, including Microsoft Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint. - Must be willing to work after-hours and on call duty. - Must demonstrate excellent business mastery, including the ability to integrate work across relevant areas, develop the business and services to enhance customer satisfaction and productivity, manage risks and safety appropriately, develop and execute business plans, manage information, and provide exceptional service to internal and external customers. - Must demonstrate excellent management mastery, including effective resource and project planning, decision making, results delivery, team building, and staying current with relevant technology and innovation. - Must demonstrate strong personal mastery, including ethics, influence and negotiation, leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, the ability to effectively manage stress and engage in continuous learning.
